Dr. Ines Moretti
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our Founder and President, Dr. Ines Moretti lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, April 7.
She passed peacefully surrounded by family.
Dr. Ines Moretti obtained her degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1974. Postdoctoral training included analytical chemistry, molecular genetics and biochemistry of breast cancer. She held research and faculty positions at the Medical College of Georgia, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center and University of California, Irvine. Beginning in 1990, and continuing for eight years, she served as Director of the Biochemistry Laboratory at the Hitachi Chemical Research Center.
Over the years, Dr. Moretti successfully applied her research on organic synthesis and chemical modification of therapeutic drugs, purification of antigens and antibodies to develop innovative reagents for immunoassays and test devices such as pregnancy tests, ovulation, infectious diseases and drugs-of-abuse. She was a highly productive scientist. In addition to holding two patents, Dr. Moretti has over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and won important international prize research awards.
